Rose Hunting
The Royal Tank Regiment (RTR) is the oldest tank unit in the world, being formed by the British Army in 1916 during the First World War. Today, it is the armoured regiment of the British Army's 12th Armoured Infantry Brigade. Formerly known as the Tank Corps and the Royal Tank Corps, it is part of the Royal Armoured Corps.
Rose Hunting tartan was originally worn by No 4 Royal Tank Regiment and the tradition was maintained when they amalgamated with No. 1 RTR in 1993. It was further maintained in 2014 when Nos. 1 & 2 RTR amalgamated to become the Royal Tank Regiment. Worn as kilts by the Regimental Pipes & Drums and as trews with black tie by the officers.
